I studied art all four years of high school but followed my friends into Engineering at Christian Brothers College in Memphis. Talk about two drastically different life paths to choose from. After college I moved to Northern Virginia to accept a job as a patent examiner with the United States Patent & Trademark Office in Arlington, Virginia, a position which proved to have a flexibility that enabled me to spend up to a month in Europe every year, mainly with my good friend Jody Herndon. Jody’s desire to better capture the experience on film led him to buy better equipment and to educate himself in the art of photography. This desire trickled down to myself and led to me upgrading my equipment and over time learning the art of photography. Of course, photography is somewhat like chess, i.e., easily learned but never mastered. Now equipped with a Canon Elan 7e for shooting film and a Canon 20D for shooting digital, I am enjoying life as a dedicated amateur photographer, and husband to wonderfully understanding wife Regina who humors my love for photography, travel, and good beer, and with whom I endeavor to keep happy three cats (Gizmo, Dusty, and Lilly) and two birds (Pete and Sam). While my friend Jody has become quite adept at the art of black and white, I tend to express myself more in color. I hope you enjoy the expressions you find on the pages of this website.

My images are available in a variety of sizes and on a variety of different papers. Please feel free to contact me if you are interested in obtaining a print or have any questions.

If one’s ability to explore the depths of the silver lining of a particular circumstance might be considered a measuring stick of one’s character, then by that measuring stick I hope to be judged well as to the manner in which I have turned the pain and turmoil of the past into positive directions for the future. During my worst days there has always been solace in art and the good fortune I had in having the chance to explore my creative energies played no small part in my growth as a person. As my art appeared on the cover of underground magazines, on the demos of several heavy metal bands, and in the pages of independently produced comic books, I grew more confident and hopeful that my art could actually become not just a hobby, but an occupation. Now, as I embrace the rigors of formal training at the University of Memphis, I hope to expand my creative bounds while also embracing the role of parent of a handsome young son, Dylan, and a beautiful little girl, Emily. They are my greatest joy, my greatest test, and my greatest inspiration.

I am available to do portraiture of both pets and people, along with other type of works done to your specifications in a variety of different media types. Please feel free to contact me with your ideas, work request, and questions in general.
